32nd Regatta Copa del Rey: sport and music
Sailing and music will take the city of Palma de Majorca for a week.
The regatta Copa del Rey has been inspiring the sailing world in the island for 32 years. At the beginning, the Copa del Rey was organised by the National Sailing Association and the Palma Royal Sailing Club, and any type of sailing boat could participate in the competition. The Bribon boat, in which the king Juan Carlos competed, intervened in 1984 and 1985 and it participated in the event until 2011 after winning the regatta 6 times.
The privileged location of the Costa Azul Hotel has been essential to accommodate the different teams: we are starting this week with the company of crews from boats like Rats on Fire, Duende, Earlybird, El mundo Cantabria, Extra1, Neera, Simfony or Spirit of Mermia. We have a show cooking in our buffet which has been specially designed for them and we have completed the fantastic breakfast we offer to our guests with a diet corner with select products specially indicated to cope with a tough competition day.
But since last year not only the sea fanatics in Palma have the opportunity to enjoy the sailing Copa del Rey, because a Village is organised every night in which visitors will be pleased with a live concert, gastronomy and the cocktails of the best bars and restaurants in the city. These activities are offered by the main hotels on the seafront promenade in Palma, an extraordinary leisure option for your summer holidays.
Tonight the music programme starts with Fonsi Nieto’s session, ex Moto GP racer who has become DJ. We must highlight the participation of Garito Café in the event, whose staff has selected the best international DJs. The programme for the rest of the week is: Nacho Velasco and P-brothers on Tuesday, Jaime Anglada and Mario Vaquerizo on the 31st and Ferard Estadella and Miranda Makaroff on the 1st of August. On Friday, in order to welcome the weekend, we will enjoy the music of DJ Joe Jastebol, and on Saturday night we will have the pleasure to welcome Nacho Velasco & Kiko Navarro. The Watermelon and DJ Nin Petit will be playing music on Sunday, and Gerard Estadella and David Delfín will do that on Monday.
The sea and the music come hand in hand in Palma de Majorca thanks to the sailing Copa del Rey. We wish some of the crews that stay with us raise the cup! The amazing picture was made by Jesús Reneldo: thanks for sharing it on the official website of Copa del Rey!
