Art invades the Old Town during Palma’s Nuit Blanche

Palma’s Nit de l’Art (Art Night) is one of the must-go events for art lovers, it’s a night when the city’s museums and art galleries open their doors to offer, free of charge, the opportunity to discover the new exhibitions of the city’s art season.

At the Costa Azul Hotel in Palma, artistic expression is one of our priorities, and is the concept that makes us one of the best luxury hotels in Palma. So, we encourage you to join in this red-letter event on our city’s cultural agenda by strolling through the Old Town in search of the museums and art galleries that open on this special evening.

Many other cities from Paris to New York have embraced this type of event. Initially known as nuits blanches, “white nights”, because they usually last from sunset until midnight or later, these artistic activities have four aims: they’re free of charge, they centre on avant-garde expressions, they’re at grassroots level and they’re sustainable.

The Nit de l’Art in Palma was first held in 1997, and was the first initiative of its kind in our country. You can read the latest news about this year’s event on its official website. From our hotel in Palma we also recommend to you the videos of previous years’ events, from which you’ll see that it’s really worth taking part.

Not only do the art galleries and museums shown in the official programme take part, most of the professionals from Mallorca’s art community come to Palma to share their art pieces with everyone. Balconies, bars, rooftops, streets and public squares become art galleries for a day.

The Nit de l’Art 2014 will take place on September 18th. Our hotel in the centre of Palma de Mallorca is located really close to the Old Town, so you’ll be able to get there easily on foot or by bus. Join more than 15,000 people at this celebration of contemporary art in our city and enjoy Palma in a different way.
