33rd Copa del Rey regatta: the event of the summer comes to Palma Bay
The Costa Azul Hotel, with bird’s eye views of Palma Bay and the Royal Palma Yacht Club, is ideally situated to accommodate lovers of sailing
If we had to choose THE red letter event of the Mallorcan summer, it’d have to be the Copa del Rey regatta, the biggest race for cruisers in the Med. The Copa del Rey is a yachting competition that’s been held in Palma Bay for over three decades. The Royal Palma Yacht Club, the contest’s organizers and possibly the best-known yacht club in Spain, has hosted it since 1982.
The 33rd Copa del Rey will take place from 2nd to 9th August in the Palma Bay. This year’s race will be special in that it will be the first where the new King of Spain, Felipe VI, will act as host. The Spanish Royal Family is passionate about watersports and Royals are often seen at this race.
The Costa Azul Hotel is one of the best-situated four-star hotels in Mallorca for getting a really good view of recreational sailing events. Our hotel in Palma is on the city’s promenade, with spectacular views over Palma Bay and the marina.
Our hotel in Palma de Mallorca has a very strong connection with the Mediterranean. We love the sea as much as do the race participants and their crews who each year choose us as their accommodation in Mallorca, whether it’s this high-profile event that they’re competing in or another from the packed race calendar.
The sea views and our proximity to the Royal Palma Yacht Club, which is just a 10-minute walk from our hotel, are two of the strong points of our accommodation in Mallorca. If you’re looking for hotels in Palma so that you can follow the Copa del Rey or any of this summer’s other yachting events at first hand, don’t hestitate to book your stay with us.
