Once again Palma celebrates Fiestas de San Sebastián 2018
Palma de Mallorca gets ready for San Sebastián
As every year in mid-January, the streets are flooded with fire, heat and party to celebrate the patron of Palma's city, and from the Hotel Costa Azul we want you to know more about this special event.
This year the festivities will be celebrated from January 13th to January 20th.
During this week the city of Palma is full of concerts, gastronomic activities, sports, demons and big bonfires. The most popular act is the verbena de San Sebastián , which is celebrated on January 19th with bonfires and musical performances in different squares of Palma , such as Plaza Mayor or Plaza de España. In these bonfires you can cook grilled butifarrón and sausage or you can also choose skewers of meat. For a few years the squares also have vegan grills for vegans.
On January 20, San Sebastian Day, in the morning the solemn Mass of San Sebastian is celebrated in the Cathedral. At midday the Cyclist's Day takes place and in the evening the delivery ceremony of the Ciutat de Palma Awards, literary prizes, is celebrated.
The Correfoc is a parade of demons from Av Jaime III to Plaza Rey Juan Carlos, where hundreds of fireworks are launched. The assembled public participates in the party dancing with the Demons and enjoying the pyrotechnic spectacle. This act puts an end to the Fiestas de San Sebastián.
The Hotel Costa Azul, is located in a privileged place on the seafront and very close to the center, so as you leave the Hotel you will be able to breathe the atmosphere of this very popular party in Palma de Mallorca.
